March Air Reserve Base Compatibility Study Moves to Implementation; City and JPA Expected to Consider Funding

At the Oct. 9 meeting Simon Hausman updated the Airport Land Use Commission on the March Air Reserve Base compatible-use study, saying the effort has moved into implementation and that the current stage focuses on amending the Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan.
Hausman told commissioners he expects the item to appear on upcoming agendas for the City of Riverside and the March Joint Powers Authority as those bodies consider authorizing contributions to the project. He noted the scale of March—s influence area, pointing out items earlier in the meeting (including a warehouse project about nine miles from the runway) that reflect why the March ALUCP covers a large geographic area.
The commission had no questions on the update. Separately, staff announced the ALUC hired Yesenia Casas full time as a county employee to work with the commission.
