Sigaro campus receives permanent certificate of occupancy; moving and athletic work underway

LAREDO ISD staff told trustees on Nov. 3 that the new Sigaro campus has received a permanent certificate of occupancy and that campus moves are underway.
Juan Carlos Ybarra and Jose Vasquez reported coordination among departments to clean the building, move palletized equipment, and stage library and classroom materials. Ybarra said movers relocated eighth-grade materials and fine arts items into the new campus and that library materials would be brought over next.
Project staff showed images of the seeded football field and described irrigation, erosion control and tree plantings; Ybarra said the field pad measures roughly 300 feet by 200 feet and can accommodate a football field. Trustees discussed temporary bleachers for practices and said staff planned to place portable aluminum bleachers by the ribbon cutting, currently planned for Dec. 17.
Trustees also discussed neighboring streets and site cleanup; staff said contractor cleanup is ongoing and that the district will continue coordination on logistics and community outreach, including potential small pre-opening visits for former teachers and selected alumni before the formal ribbon cutting.
