Dr. Lecky presented policy advisories 917 through 958 for a first reading and clarified the board was not voting to adopt them at this meeting. He said the advisories reflect an ASBA effort to condense its policy manual by removing extraneous language and combining some policies; he described it as roughly a one‑third reduction in volume.
At the request of board member Mr. Stable, Dr. Lecky said he would work with staff to provide “a little bit more of an analysis of those policy advisories” before the second reading and adoption scheduled for the December meeting.
Later in the meeting, Mr. Stable moved to approve and ratify the consent agenda items marked with an asterisk; Mrs. Sisson seconded. Miss Gill took roll call and recorded unanimous ayes from President Varela, Mrs. Martinez, Mrs. Sisson, Mr. Stable and Mr. Shute. The motion carried.
Dr. Lecky emphasized that the policy advisories were presented as a first reading and that staff would return with additional review.
