Among the items the council adopted was a resolution recognizing and appropriating a $17,514.09 state grant intended to support art preservation and emergency preparedness work at the Harrison Memorial Library and other city facilities. Katie O’Connell, the city’s Local History Librarian, told the council that roughly $14,500 of the grant would fund replacement UV‑blocking film for windows in the Harrison Memorial Library’s reading room, part of a State Library assessment that recommended both window film and other emergency‑preparedness measures. O’Connell said the film would provide near‑term protection before a planned renovation and that existing film installed in 2011 would be replaced.
The council also approved a contract with Precision Concrete Cutting for citywide sidewalk offset shaving. Public works staff reported that the firm’s assessment identified roughly 6,500 linear feet and about 1,400 sites suitable for shaving/evening, and said the contractor could mobilize in about four weeks weather permitting.
Council members voted to adopt an agreement for managed detection and response services to provide cybersecurity monitoring through Oct. 31, 2028, and approved other routine items including the September check register summary and monthly reports.
