Interim curriculum coordinator Emily Schneider presented the district's comprehensive achievement and civic readiness update, saying the Northstar indicators guide monitoring of academic achievement, academic progress, English‑learner proficiency and graduation rates.
Schneider reported that the district fell slightly short of an early-reading goal: 63 percent of students earned a composite score at or above the 40th percentile this fall, versus a district target of 65 percent. By contrast, early-math performance met and in some measures exceeded the district's goal (the presentation set an 80 percent target for early math attainment).
Schneider also highlighted the district's statewide standing and earlier rankings. She noted a 97.1 percent on‑time graduation rate for the 2024'25 year and cited a senior survey item showing 81.3 percent of seniors said the high school helped them identify plans after graduation. The presentation referenced research and past district work on achievement gaps and the need to monitor subgroup progress, including special education versus non‑special education comparisons.
District staff and board members discussed how the metrics should inform future goals and interventions, including preschool and curriculum supports. The presentation closed with the administration's indication that the district would continue to track the Northstar indicators and pursue targeted supports where results fall below goals.
The board did not take formal action during the presentation but acknowledged the data and thanked the presenters.
