City Manager Scott Holt used the council meeting to announce recent local developments, upcoming community events and recognitions for Wasco projects.
Holt said a new Burger King franchise has opened and highlighted a community breakfast scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 7 a.m. He noted the city’s successful trunk-or-treat event and encouraged council members interested in transportation awards to attend a Nov. 6 awards event in Fresno where three Wasco projects—the Pozzo underpass, the 7th Street improvements and the viaduct—are being recognized by regional transportation partners.
Holt also listed Veterans Day programming on Nov. 7 at Theresa Burke School, the Wasco High “Cowboy Christmas” parade and tree lighting on Dec. 6, and the city’s Tour of Lights hosted Dec. 17–18 with judging on Dec. 19. He said the assistant city manager and he will attend a city manager retreat and that the police chief would serve as acting city manager in their absence.
Council members praised the trunk-or-treat turnout and raised a safety recommendation to consider additional lighting at event crossings for next year. No new funding or policy votes were taken during the announcements.
