City unveils redesigned Beloit.gov site; new layout aims for April 2027 accessibility target

City staff demonstrated a redesigned Beloit.gov homepage and navigation during the council meeting. The presenter, introduced as Sarah, said the new homepage uses icons to surface services such as employment opportunities, agendas, bill payment and how to report concerns, and includes alert functionality and curated news and events sections.
Sarah told council the site had been live for about one week and that the redesign followed a hosting agreement with Catalyst that provided a site upgrade. She said the redesign aims to make interior pages less text-heavy and easier to scan, and that images were chosen to represent both east and west sides of the city. The presenter also said the redesign was undertaken to prepare for web accessibility standards that cities across the country are working to meet by an April 2027 deadline.
Councilors thanked staff for the redesign and were invited to provide feedback to staff where items may have moved or need clarifying.
