Finkenbiner told the board he began volunteering after seeing a parent—s Facebook post about near-misses at a crosswalk and that his regular presence has reduced violations at that crossing. "He remembered a child who asked, 'You're gonna be here next week, right?' — and I thought, well, I am now," Finkenbiner said in a video shown to the board. The district credited his partnership with increased safety, bike-club support and responsiveness when bus drivers report dangerous passing incidents.
Board members and staff thanked Finkenbiner for his volunteer service to multiple campuses; no formal action was required.
