Monroeville volunteers to host Nov. 11 food drive; drop-offs at convention center and senior center

Debbie Eszak of Ward 1 announced a community food drive set for Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Monroeville Convention Center, requesting nonperishable donations from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eszak said Monroeville currently supports three food pantries and a Gateway High School distribution program and that demand is unusually high going into the holiday season.
"We are in a food crisis with many of our food pantries right now," Eszak said, and asked residents to "stop at the grocery store, get a couple of items" and donate. She added that neighbors who cannot make the daytime window can leave donations at the senior center or drop directly at individual food pantries. Event organizers said they are renting a truck to collect donations and encouraged residents and municipal staff to publicize the drive via municipal social channels.
Council members said they would assist with publicity; staff requested contact information and logistics for municipal assistance.
