Legislature renews FAA agreement to house airport navigational aids for 20 years

The Schenectady County Committee on Public Facilities, Transportation and Infrastructure voted to renew an agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration to continue the construction, maintenance and operation of certain navigational aids (NAVAIDs) located at the Schenectady County Airport.
Pete Knudsen, the county’s director of engineering, told the committee the county first entered the agreement in 2007 and is seeking a renewal for another 20 years to allow the FAA to house and maintain navigational equipment on county property.
“Back in 2007, we signed a agreement with the FAA for the continued maintenance and operation of what are called Navaids,” Knudsen said. The committee moved and passed the item without recorded opposition.
