City Manager Lance announced Nov. 4 that the city has been awarded a municipal bridge grant through the Ohio Department of Transportation to replace culverts on West Southern.
Lance said the project estimate is about $900,000 and the city was awarded $822,893 from the municipal bridge program; design will include a rectangular box culvert in place of the existing culverts. He said the award will fund design and construction costs and is slated for fiscal year 2030.
“It's, about a $900,000 project, and we just, reserve received a notification that we were awarded a grant to, replace that, and that will be in fiscal year, 2030. It's, and we got, $822,000. Well, actually, $822,893 to redo this bridge,” Lance said during the meeting.
Lance added the city manages five bridges and expects this award, combined with prior work, to put the city's bridge maintenance program on stable footing for the coming decades. No additional council action was taken at the Nov. 4 meeting; staff will continue engineering and scheduling work ahead of the FY2030 project.
