City manager says Cort and Herbster stormwater bids came in below estimate; award expected next meeting

City Manager Lance reported Nov. 4 that the city opened bids on the Cort and Herbster stormwater project and that staff are evaluating the submissions.

“That's a stormwater project that's gonna start, relatively soon. The bids were are being evaluated now, and we will have them ready for the next council meeting and, probably end up doing that one as an emergency,” Lance said, adding the low bids came in about $150,000 under the engineer’s estimate.

Lance asked for council direction on handling the evaluation and award at the next meeting. No final contract was awarded at the Nov. 4 meeting; staff said they will bring a recommendation and the council will vote when the contract is presented.
