Robert Gill, Sheridan County Airport manager, briefed commissioners on multiple airport matters, including a proposal for the former Avcon hangar, a bid opening to convert a former FedEx building back into a hangar, and a multi-year signage update across airport property.

Gill said he received one proposal for the hangar at 903 West Portage Lane (the former Avcon building) and will bring a recommendation forward after a public hearing. He also said bids will be opened later in the week for converting the former FedEx building to hangar use; he will present a recommendation to the board after bid evaluation.

On signage, Gill explained the airport is replacing roughly two-decade-old perimeter “airport property — no trespassing” signs approximately every 200 feet around the airport, updating electric-gate signage, and posting an operations contact number at gates where tenants do not currently have contact information. A commissioner had asked about an invoice (AOA signs, invoice 517658); Gill said the invoices reflect the airport’s signage plan to refresh faded and weathered signs and update gate contact details.

Gill also raised the prospect of an ad hoc airport leasing committee to review high-level leasing terms (reversion clauses, lease terms) and suggested inviting two commissioners and possibly one or two members of the public with relevant leasing or aviation experience. He recommended Bruce Scribe as a potential public participant because of his real estate and aviation knowledge; Gill said he would reach out to see if Scribe is interested.

The airport manager noted an upcoming consent-item consideration: a proposed sublease between tenant Jake Spinnover and Wyoming Wheels and Deals (a car retail/service operation discussed previously). Gill also referenced earlier work on electric gates and walk-through gates as part of ongoing airport upkeep.

No final lease decisions were made at the meeting. Gill said public hearings and committee work will follow as recommendations are developed.
