Sheridan County to Accept Applications for Two Retail Liquor Licenses Outside Municipal Buffers

Sheridan County commissioners voted Nov. 4 to authorize a draft notice inviting applications for two retail liquor licenses located outside the five‑mile buffer of any incorporated municipality.

Edishon Thompson, Sheridan County clerk, told the board the Wyoming Liquor Division has certified two additional license entitlements for the county and that the clerk’s office will accept completed applications through Dec. 1, 2025, at 5 p.m. "The fee for either one of these retail liquor licenses is $1,500 a year," Thompson said, adding that "the term for these available retail liquor licenses would be less than a year, and so that fee would then be prorated."

The notice, as presented, included a GIS layer showing the buffer boundaries and a statement that county licensing rules and regulations govern the issuance of the licenses. A commissioner moved to approve the notice as drafted with a Dec. 1, 2025, 5 p.m. application deadline; the motion passed by voice vote.
