Commissioners approve county engineer consent items including Wix Ditch grant and Mont Clover Road right-of-way

The Lucas County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 7 unanimously approved the county engineer—s consent agenda, which included a 100% reimbursement grant for the Wix Ditch extension improvement, cooperative purchasing of a portable salt conveyor system and authorization of easements for the Mont Clover Road roundabout project (PID 117232).

Kelly Decker, county engineer, told the board the items are already included in the 2026 budget and cited the Wix Ditch project as a fully reimbursable construction grant. Decker also described approval to buy a portable salt conveyor from Kimco USA, through the Ohio Department of Transportation cooperative purchasing program, and a joint cooperation agreement with the village of Swanton to allow repairs to the Norfolk Southern rail bridge on Howard Avenue.

The board moved to approve the items and the clerk called the roll. Commissioner Lopez moved the motion; Commissioners Gerken and Cebecchi voted yes and the statement of approval was recorded.

The Mont Clover Road roundabout work (PID 117232) was presented as an item that will go out for bid later this year and includes acceptance of contracts, easements and a right-of-way entry agreement that Decker said are necessary before bidding.

The approvals were taken as consent items on the agenda; no separate fiscal contingencies or additional county commitments were identified during the presentation.

The board recessed to later items after the vote and proceeded with the Sanitary Engineer and budget hearings.
