Hocking County commissioners voted Oct. 23 to authorize the president of the board to prepare and submit an application to the Ohio Department of Transportation's 2025–2026 Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP). The resolution states a contract will be required and commissioners requested small typographic fixes to the digital version before signing.
The board also read a legal notice for sealed proposals to be received by 9:30 a.m. Nov. 13 for the county road project identified as HOC-CRVARGRFY 2026. The notice specifies that bidders must be prequalified through ODOT, furnish bid security (bond or check equal to 10% of the bid), comply with Ohio prevailing-wage rules and the Ohio Administrative Code equal-employment-opportunity requirements, and to the extent practical use Ohio products, services and labor.
Separately, commissioners approved an application by South Central Power Company to replace six utility poles in the right-of-way on Union and Wolf Road in Prairie Township; the county engineer signed the application with no notes.
The actions position the county to pursue federal/state funding for local active-transportation or pedestrian projects, begin procurement for a county road construction contract and allow planned utility pole replacements to proceed under the county right-of-way approval process.
