A commissioner said the county’s spare pump had been put into service after a recent pump failure and that the sewer department requested an additional backup pump to keep on the shelf. The quoted cost presented at the meeting was $3,265, and commissioners approved the expenditure by motion and second.
Commissioners and staff also discussed a suspected sewer blockage between two air valves near the flea market; county staff (Tim) is coordinating with the city of Logan to use a vacuum truck and gathering excavator pricing for any necessary cutting and repair. The board agreed to reconvene the sewer stakeholders to assess next steps on regionalization talks with the city.
On building systems, commissioners discussed a failing compressor affecting the third-floor HVAC unit. Staff said one compressor is operating at roughly 75% capacity while the other needs replacement; long lead times (two to three months) for parts from the vendor were noted. Commissioners said they will follow up with the original designers/installers to pursue possible reimbursements.
Separately, the board praised Ace Truck Body in Columbus for repairing a county-maintenance truck snow plow free of charge and recognized the vendor for standing behind their installation work.
All motions on equipment purchases and routine follow-ups were approved during the meeting.
