Hocking County commissioners approve a suite of appropriations, transfers and personnel actions

Hocking County commissioners unanimously approved a series of budget appropriations, transfers, grant certifications and personnel actions during their Oct. 23 meeting in Logan.
The board approved a $13,332.49 transfer from ARPA (ARPA 2278, account 6200) to cover obligations for the remainder of the year and to reimburse IT equipment purchases. It also approved an additional appropriation of $587,000 into county fund 1 for the mandated share for South Southeast Ohio Job and Family Services, which commissioners said is largely covered by levy revenue.
Other financial actions approved included $14,849.89 for Hocking County Municipal Court Integrated Intervention program expenses; $13,217.93 to data-processing equipment and $5,113.50 to contract services to cover portable HVAC units and floor repairs; and $27,562.50 from the household sewer fund (account 2082) to pay invoices (administrative fees, permit fees and contract services).
The board approved an estimated $10,000 year-end appropriation for EMS bills and recorded $12,403.94 in donated EMS equipment (two portable chair stairs) from the Logan Moose. The sheriff's office received a reimbursement appropriation of $10,983.30 for hospital security costs for August. Commissioners also authorized a $20,923.68 transfer from Violence Against Women Act funds into hospitalization accounts.
Smaller transfers recorded included a $900 shift from coroner travel to supplies (to purchase body bags) and an auditor equipment-to-supplies transfer to address a shortfall. Two personnel matters were recorded: a prior appointment corrected from full time to part time and approval of a new EMS hire, Bryce Burton. The board also approved an amendment to a Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections grant adding $7,388.
All listed motions were moved, seconded and carried with the board answering "Aye" to roll-call prompts; the transcript records unanimous approval on these items.
The approvals are routine end-of-year housekeeping to cover outstanding invoices, finalize staffing changes and record donated equipment. Several items were noted in discussion: commissioners said the JFS mandated-share funds are chiefly levy-sourced and confirmed ARPA funds had previously been earmarked for specific uses.
