Board renames playground, dedicates Roychester Park bridge and authorizes field-improvement bids

On Oct. 9 the Abington Township Board of Commissioners approved three park-related items: (1) renaming the Inclusive Park and Playground to "A Place to Play Park and Playground," (2) dedicating a pedestrian bridge at Roychester Park in memory of Adrian Leary, retired U.S. Army Corps of Engineers chief of planning, and (3) authorizing preparation and advertisement of bid specifications for a field-improvements project.
Commissioners moved and seconded each item and approved them by voice vote. One commissioner described the playground as "a super treasure in the township" and supported the more descriptive new name to make the facility's purpose clear to residents.
The bridge dedication will proceed as memorial naming; staff were authorized to move forward with bid specifications for field improvements and to advertise those specifications per municipal procurement rules. No budget figures or detailed project scopes were provided in the Oct. 9 discussion.
