Abington approves five-year PennDOT winter agreement; amends red-light enforcement expiration

The Abington Township Board of Commissioners on Oct. 9 approved a five-year winter traffic services agreement with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and authorized advertisement of an ordinance amending the township—s automated red-light enforcement expiration provisions.
President Hecker called for and the board approved the motion to authorize the five-year winter traffic services agreement and to adopt resolution number 25-026 by voice vote. The motion authorizes the township to execute the agreement with PennDOT covering winter traffic services for the five-year period specified in the motion.
Separately the board authorized advertisement of an ordinance amending chapter 155 (traffic control), article on automated red-light enforcement to address expiration provisions. The board moved and seconded the advertising motion; no substantive discussion was recorded in the meeting transcript before both motions passed by voice vote.
Both actions were routine motions taken during the new-business section of the meeting. The advertising action for the red-light ordinance begins the public-notice period required before final adoption; the PennDOT agreement is an executed contract resolution to be signed by designated officials.
