Manheim Township SD board discusses creating facilities committee of the whole, proposes Oct. 23 and Dec. 4 meetings

Board leadership presented a recommendation to establish a facilities committee of the whole to create independent, structured meetings dedicated to facilities planning and oversight and proposed meeting dates of Oct. 23, 2025 and Dec. 4, 2025.

The presenter said the change is intended to improve access, transparency and participation because the district will be handling “many millions of dollars” for building and infrastructure projects. The proposal would separate facilities deliberations from other board business so the public and all board members can hear full background and debate before a final vote.

Board member Miss Lenny said she looked forward to voting for the committee, arguing it would “bring everything into the open” and allow broader board participation in large projects such as the campus master plan and athletic facilities. Board member Mister Bolzarth said he supported the change and emphasized the value of public participation, adding that he hopes financial questions will be reviewed fully by district financial leadership before money is spent.

One board member, Missus Hoffman, announced she would recuse herself from the decision because of a conflict of interest. The presenter said the proposal would return on the board’s October 16 meeting for a formal vote.
