District finance staff asked the board for direction to include a property-tax rebate program in the annual real-estate tax resolution prepared each June and announced a proposed increase to elementary and middle-school lunch prices to cover higher food and labor costs.
Mr. Dady explained that the property-tax-rebate resolution is intended to be included each year in the board’s June resolution that sets millage rates so future changes in state rebate programs or homestead exemptions can be captured. The approval at the work session would direct administration to include the rebate program language in the annual June resolution.
On school lunches, the administration proposed raising elementary lunch to $3.35 and middle-school lunch to $3.60, citing increased grocery costs and higher pay to address staffing shortages. Board members asked for a short communication window to parents and for the increase to take effect Nov. 3 to allow time for notification; administration accepted that timeline.
No final board vote was taken at the Oct. 13 work session; the items will appear on the Oct. 21 consent or action agenda for formal approval.
