The district’s communications team asked the board to review a one-time website-design proposal with FinalSight and announced a digital-accessibility task force to meet DOJ Title II requirements.
Miss LaRoya described the FinalSight proposal as a $22,525 one-time custom-design engagement that includes design, implementation, technical review and launch support; the price reflects a 15% client discount for an existing customer relationship. She said the project duration could be as short as 18 weeks but recommended a summer launch to avoid disruptions during the school year.
LaRoya also briefed the board on the task force formed to audit the district’s publicly facing digital systems and to prepare for the Department of Justice’s April 2027 enforcement of Title II digital-accessibility rules. The task force will audit systems, build a remediation plan to reach WCAG 2.1 standards and return an initial plan this winter; ongoing work will continue through 2027. LaRoya told the board that noncompliance risks include private lawsuits and fines under the DOJ rule.
Board members asked whether the design bid had been competitive; LaRoya said the district maintains a five-year relationship with FinalSight and that FinalSight recently acquired Blackboard, another K–12 vendor. LaRoya said many local districts use FinalSight and recommended moving the contract forward in November.
