Ski club seeks board approval for Park City spring-break trip; estimated student cost $1,500

Ski club leaders and adviser Heather Viddle asked the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District board to approve a spring-break ski trip to Park City, Utah, during the Oct. 13 work session.
Viddle said the club selected Skisync after reviewing options and that “the estimated cost per student is about $1,500,” which covers four nights’ lodging, daily breakfast, three days of lift tickets, round-trip airfare and group transportation. The package does not include mountain lunches or souvenirs. Students and parents would sign up through a district portal and parents would handle payments there; the club plans fundraisers to offset some meal costs.
Viddle described supervision and medical arrangements: quad rooms for students, chaperones in nearby rooms, room checks, a district emergency binder with medical release forms and on-mountain ski patrol and local urgent-care and hospital facilities. She said chaperones would accompany any student who required transport to medical care and contact parents as needed. Parents expressed concern about an early (7 a.m.) outbound flight; organizers said they would consider alternatives but noted the direct routing from Newark gave the best travel itinerary.
The board did not vote at the work session; staff said the ski-club trip will be placed on the Oct. 21 regular meeting consent or action agenda for formal approval.
