High school expansion moves toward holiday turnover as three additions take shape

District construction staff presented a progress update on the high school expansion and renovation, and told the board the project is on track for a holiday turnover of the next phase.

The presenter described work in multiple areas: interior renovations in the second‑floor science wing (flooring, wall tile, fixtures, toilet compartments, ceiling grid and lighting being installed), life‑safety head‑end equipment transitioning to the new system, and mechanical grills/diffusers being installed. The three major additions (administration, cafeteria and adjacent mechanical space) have building shells up, exterior brick underway and interior framing defining rooms. "We have the new slabs poured for what will be the cafeteria expansion," the presenter said, and staff noted ceiling grid is in place in many of the second‑floor rooms that will be turned over in the next phase of work.

Outside site work was continuing, including masonry on the cafeteria addition and mechanical deck work. Staff reported that roofing tie‑ins and roof curbs for mechanical equipment are arriving and being set in preparation for rooftop equipment installation.

Board members asked questions about underground utilities and electrical progress; the presenter reported the underground electrical work has reached approximately 60% completion and that no major unexpected conditions had been found to date. Staff said they would circulate recent drone and interior photos to the board and expected to return with another status update at the next monthly meeting.
