Manhattan proclaims Veterans Small Business Week and highlights Veterans Day events

Mayor Karen McCullough used the Nov. 4 meeting to proclaim Nov. 3–7 as National Veterans Small Business Week and Nov. 11 as Veterans Day.
McCullough said veteran- and military-spouse-owned small businesses are “important pillars that drive our economy” and called on citizens to recognize their contributions.
Christine, president of the Flint Hills Veterans Coalition, outlined Nov. 11 activities: a veterans breakfast at 7 a.m. at the American Legion, a parade starting at the mall at 9:30 a.m. that will end at City Hall, an 11 a.m. indoor ceremony at Peace Memorial Auditorium and an exhibit at the mall during the week. She also noted that the Armed Forces Community Foundation’s Match Day that day will include 31 organizations and encouraged donations to Greater Manhattan-affiliated efforts. Christine said the parade will be televised on Cox Channel 3 and KMAN and encouraged veterans and families to attend.
No formal action or funding decisions were taken related to the proclamations during the meeting.
