Council approves conditional use permit for Spring Hill Elementary addition (Ordinance 2025-18)

The Spring Hill City Council adopted Ordinance 2025-18 approving Conditional Use CU-25-1 and the site plan for a building addition at Spring Hill Elementary School, located at 300 S. Webster Street in Johnson County.
Planning staff member Long told the council USD 230 submitted the CUP and site plan for an addition totaling about 5,500 square feet for classrooms and office space. "We did hold a public hearing through planning commission. They voted 5-0 to recommend approval of the CUP with the site plan. There was a 14-day protest period, and no valid protest petition was received," Long said.
Council members expressed support for the project, describing the additional space as much needed for the school. Deputy madam clerk conducted a roll call and recorded affirmative votes; the ordinance passed with a recorded 4-0-0 vote.
The approval is subject to the conditions listed in the staff report; staff will administratively coordinate building permits and any inspection or infrastructure needs noted in the conditions.
