Salina board schedules Oct. 29 public forum on 2018 code updates; draft ordinance to go to legal

Staff said subcommittee review of code updates has been ongoing since January 2023 and that the draft ordinance is being finalized and will be submitted to the city attorney for review. A public forum is scheduled for Oct. 29, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.; the room will open at 5:30 p.m. Staff asked Board members to attend the forum to help answer public questions and said all draft ordinance materials will be posted on the city website and sent to city contractor and contractor-education mailing lists.
Staff also noted that the Board will meet Nov. 5, 2025 (rescheduled because Nov. 11 is Veterans Day) to consider public feedback and make a recommendation to the City Commission, with the target date to bring the draft ordinance to the City Commission on Dec. 8, 2025.
Staff said a public notice and draft ordinance packet would be published and distributed by the end of the week so Board members and the public have time to review the proposed changes before the forum.
Logistics: The Oct. 29 forum will begin at 6 p.m.; the Board meeting to consider public input is scheduled for Nov. 5 at 3 p.m.; the City Commission target date for ordinance consideration is Dec. 8, 2025.
