COG approves submittal of two Caltrans planning grants for Cosgrove Creek resiliency and Oberm’s Ferry Road connectivity

Calaveras Council of Governments staff asked the board on Nov. 5 for direction to submit two applications to Caltrans’ Sustainable Transportation Planning grant program. The proposed applications were Cosgrove Creek (to study climate‑adaptation and resiliency measures to address repeated flooding across the roadway at Northampton) and Oberm’s Ferry Road (a Copperopolis connectivity planning application).
Staff noted the applications were due Nov. 1 and presented the projects and the staff report. A board member asked for clarification about the Cosgrove Creek application’s focus on flooding at Northampton. After confirming the intent to pursue resiliency and flood mitigation measures, a board member moved the item; there was a second and the council voted to approve the submittal. The vote was recorded as 7–0 in favor.
No public commenters spoke on the item. Staff will proceed with the two applications and return to the board as appropriate with any updates on award status and next steps.
