Summary
The board unanimously approved an OSAA cooperative sponsorship between Perrydale High School and Dallas High School for boys and girls soccer, appointed Ed Dressel to the long-range facility planning/finance committee, and approved a leave of absence request for district staff Jennifer Westendorp.
The Dallas School District Board of Directors approved several routine items during its Oct. 13 meeting, including an OSAA cooperative sponsorship application, a committee appointment and a staff leave request.
The board voted to approve an Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) cooperative sponsorship between Perrydale High School and Dallas High School to offer boys and girls soccer as a joint program. The district staff noted the application had been provisionally approved by OSAA pending the board’s action. Board members discussed whether cooperative team participants affect ADM (average daily membership) and athletic classification; staff said the number of athletes counted for classification is small and the effect is negligible.
The board also approved appointing Ed Dressel to the long-range facility planning and finance committee. A board member noted Dressel’s background with retirement projections and finance-related work and moved for approval; the motion passed unanimously.
Finally, the board approved a leave of absence request for Jennifer Westendorp. The superintendent’s office and the board indicated the request exercises a provision in the collective bargaining agreement and that the district supports the employee’s return.
All three motions passed by unanimous vote of those present.
