District finance staff presented preliminary financial highlights for the month ending Sept. 30 and told the board the district currently projects an ending fund balance near 8%.
Tammy, district finance staff, said September is when the district begins to collect more year-start data and that preliminary enrollment (ADMr) so far is flat relative to last year but that the district is monitoring state-level funding scenarios. "We are in a very good financial situation to be watching this come at us," Tammy said, while cautioning that the state November revenue forecast could affect future budgets.
The district reported drawing about $4 million from its local government investment pool (LGIP) into operations in September to meet operating needs. Tammy said the district holds roughly $22 million in LGIP accounts, of which about $17 million is earmarked for capital projects, and that roughly $12 million of planned project funds remain uncontracted.
Board members noted enrollment concerns. A board member observed a year-over-year drop of about 73 students, and staff explained that October enrollment snapshots typically indicate the year’s trajectory. Staff also explained that building capacity figures reflect older capacity calculations and that programmatic changes can alter how space is used.
Board members asked for ongoing updates and emphasized preparedness: a board member summarized the district’s posture as "prepare but don’t panic," reflecting the finance team's outlook given state uncertainty.
