Commissioners designate off-site location for National Adoption Day ceremonies

Mr. Burton described plans for National Adoption Day, which will be celebrated in Lubbock on Nov. 21, 2025, and asked the court to approve an alternate site outside the courthouse. "It is proposed to occur at Lubbock Impact at 34th And Boston," Burton said, adding the court must vote under state law to authorize county business at an alternate location.

Commissioner Rackler moved and Commissioner Shaw seconded approval of the alternate site. Judge Parrish and multiple commissioners praised the event's importance, noting the ceremony brings together adoptive parents, children and extended family and that adoptive celebrations can require more space than the courthouse provides.

The court approved the alternate site by unanimous vote as recorded in the meeting minutes. The presenter said an exact number of participating families was not yet available.
