Seaside board discusses furniture refresh, HVAC assessment and possible computer lab relocation

Members discussed relocating the computer lab into the main library floor and the need to design a community survey to solicit input on furniture types and room uses. Board members emphasized avoiding leading questions in the survey and suggested multiple-choice options to guide design decisions.

Staff said the foundation was granted monies in the current fiscal year specifically for an HVAC assessment and a furniture refresh. Members indicated a desire to spend available funds before the fiscal year ends and staff said they would check with finance on permissible spending windows.

The board also reported evaluating a donation of tools for a possible Library of Things; staff said heavier or specialized tools (for example, a radial-arm saw) are unlikely to be added, but smaller tools and specialty items might be included once safety and storage needs are resolved.
