The City Commission voted Oct. 21 to rezone an undeveloped tract in the Stone Creek Business Center from Neighborhood Commercial to Business Commercial and to amend the Stone Creek Commercial PUD to accommodate parking and circulation improvements.
Stephanie Peterson, director of community development, explained the request covered an undeveloped tract adjacent to existing businesses in the Stone Creek center. The planning board had unanimously recommended approval. Brett Tremblay, representing the developer, said the change will allow additional parking, improved circulation and pedestrian connectivity for the center, noting current on‑site parking is constrained.
Commissioners discussed accessibility concerns and asked staff to relay recommendations about adding automatic door openers to building owners where needed. The commission adopted Ordinance Nos. 7787 (rezoning) and 7788 (PUD amendment) by roll call vote; the measures passed 5–0.
The approvals allow the developer to proceed with platting and site work consistent with the newly authorized Business Commercial standards; any building permits, subdivisions or surface‑work will still require administrative review or additional approvals as required by code.
