The court's order, filed in conference and recited in the opinion text, says Lovell executed an affidavit of resignation on Sept. 16, 2025 that the Oklahoma Bar Association filed with the Court on Sept. 24, 2025. The opinion notes Lovell was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar on Sept. 25, 1991 and that he waived his right to contest the disciplinary allegations against him.
The order ties the disciplinary proceeding to criminal matters in Texas. The opinion states that on Sept. 12, 2025 the respondent entered a guilty plea to a felony charge of using a vehicle to facilitate the discharge of a firearm (citing 21 O.S. ' section 652) and received a 20-year suspended sentence in a Travis County, Texas matter. The transcript also contains entries that list Sept. 12, 2023 as the date of certain Travis County charges (deadly conduct/discharge of a firearm and a misdemeanor reckless-driving charge); the opinion text as provided contains those inconsistent years. The Court found that, if proven, the alleged conduct would violate Rule 8.4(b) of the Oklahoma Rules of Professional Conduct, applicable RGDP provisions, and an attorney's oath. As conditions of acceptance of the resignation and of any future reinstatement, the Court ordered that Lovell comply with RGDP procedures, return all client files, refund unearned fees, and reimburse the client security fund for any principal and statutory interest or amounts expended because of his malfeasance or nonfeasance. The opinion further states Lovell may not apply for reinstatement until 5.5 years from the order's effective date and must comply with RGDP Rule 9.1 within 20 days of his resignation.
