Harvey County commissioners approve routine items: warrant checks, mapping grant application, Title VI recertification and parks appointments

Critical-facility mapping grant: Molly Redinger asked for permission to apply for a mapping grant available through the Kansas 9-1-1 Board that funds standardized indoor and outdoor GIS mapping for critical facilities, with a top priority for K–12 schools. Redinger said the program is per-building (not per-district) and that the state has made $2,000,000 available; per-building estimates discussed ranged from roughly $5,000 to $30,000. The board authorized Harvey County Communications to apply on behalf of county schools.
Title VI documents: Lona Kelly presented updated Title VI transportation documents required every three years for the KDOT interurban program. The updates reflect a location change for the program and removal of limited-English-proficiency language per state reviewers. Commissioner (speaker 4) moved to certify the updated 2025 Title VI documents and submit them with the FY2026–27 KDOT grant; the motion passed.
Parks appointees: Cass presented two recommended applicants for the Parks Advisory Board. The board appointed Jacob Bruning and Doug Trumbull to three-year terms beginning Nov. 1, 2025.
