Resident raises safety alarm over unmarked 'T' intersections; commissioners to inspect

A Farlington resident warned the Crawford County Commission on October 2025 that several unmarked 'T' intersections are causing near-misses and could become sites of serious crashes if nothing is done.

Ross Martinson told commissioners that traffic has increased markedly near 690th/130th, 701/30th and other local junctions since a nearby highway closure, and that he has seen commercial trucks and delivery vehicles run the intersections. “We got a problem up there with unmarked county roads or intersections,” Martinson said. “These trucks speeding through there … I mean, when somebody has a cow out or a kid in the road.”

Commissioners and staff discussed basic next steps at the meeting. A commissioner said the county would relay Martinson’s concerns to “Dale” for an on-site inspection and involve the sheriff’s office for speed-limit and enforcement recommendations.
