Crawford County approves short EMS transfers, uses ARPA training funds to cover trainer wages

Crawford County commissioners on Oct. 25 approved transfers intended to close the month in a positive position for EMS operations.
Commissioner Jim said the county needed to transfer $36,039.48 from the EMS reserve into EMS operations and $13,215.04 from ARPA training funds to EMS to reimburse two months of a trainer’s salary. ‘‘We’re paying two months of the trainer’s wages,’’ Jim said, adding that the ARPA money had been earmarked for training and was an appropriate use.
Commissioners asked about Medicare billing and expected deposits; staff said Medicare collections were not expected immediately and that some billing remained on hold. Jim noted that using ARPA funds for trainer wages aligns with the funds’ training purpose.
A motion to approve the transfers was moved and seconded and carried without recorded opposition. No further conditions were attached in the meeting minutes.
