District facilities report: Deerpath demolition, HVAC replacements and high school kitchen near completion

Jerry Heller, the district’s facilities lead, updated the Susquehanna Township School District board on capital projects during the Nov. 3 meeting, reporting progress and some supply-chain delays.
Heller said demolition of the Deerpath Road building is complete and interior layout work has begun. The middle school bleacher replacement was finished over the summer, and district-wide rooftop HVAC unit replacement continues as a planned, multi-year effort. Heller noted an emergency replacement of a large high-school water heater was completed quickly to avoid impacting student services.
On the high school kitchen renovation, Heller said construction is essentially complete but that some custom kitchen equipment has been delayed by long lead times; once that equipment arrives the district will complete final installation and plumbing. He described landscaping and sidewalk repairs at the high school to improve drainage around the building and said the kitchen’s walk-in cooler/freezer upgrades are installed and operational.
Board members asked about scheduling site visits; Heller offered to coordinate visits and cautioned against unannounced site arrivals. On the video surveillance system, Justin Green (technology) said equipment procurement and wiring are being coordinated with the architect so installation occurs as interior construction progresses.
