Harvey County commissioners approve routine minutes and warrants, accept boat-ramp bid pending review and plan to repost detention medical-services RFP

The Harvey County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 14 approved routine board business and took several procurement and administrative steps.
Minutes and warrant approvals Commissioner (Speaker 5) moved to approve the minutes from the Oct. 7 meeting; Commissioner (Speaker 6) seconded and the board voice-voted to approve the minutes.
The board also approved warrant checks dated Oct. 14 totaling $254,075.93 after a motion and second; the vote passed by voice.
Boat-ramp bid accepted pending review Public works/engineering staff reported one responsive bid for the East Park boat ramp from X Cat Construction for $40,095.30. Staff said the bid met the six required specifications and was within the project budget; construction had been budgeted at $50,000 while design and plan line items were budgeted separately (the design contract with MKEC came in at $8,500). Commissioner (Speaker 5) moved to accept and award the bid pending staff review of specs and timeline; Commissioner (Speaker 6) seconded. The motion passed by voice vote. Staff indicated that, if no anomalies arise during review, they will proceed to contact the vendor.
Detention-center medical-services RFP to be reposted County staff reported the RFP for medical services at the Harvey County Detention Center received no proposals by the due date; one potential respondent requested more time. Staff will repost the RFP, and the current provider will continue services until a new contract is in place (the current contract was described as expiring on the 30th).
Oath of office The board administered the oath of office to Amy Perkins as Harvey County treasurer. Rick Pfeiffer led the oath; Perkins said she was eager to start her duties.
The board closed the meeting and reminded members of an Oct. 15 work session at 9 a.m. regarding FEMA/floodplain topics.
