Sandusky approves multiple infrastructure items: Cleveland Road inspection contract, Columbus Ave change order and West Monroe bid resolution

The Sandusky City Commission on Nov. 10 approved multiple infrastructure ordinances and a resolution. Miss Myers presented an ordinance to authorize a professional services agreement with K E McCartney & Associates for inspection services on the Cleveland Road Safety Improvement Project; the commission adopted the ordinance under suspension of rules.

The commission also approved a first-and-final change order for work performed by Great Lakes Demolition Company LLC on the Columbus Avenue reconstruction and streetscape project; a commissioner noted the change order resulted in an approximately $118,000 giveback to the city. The ordinance adopting the change order passed on roll-call vote.

For West Monroe Street (Camp to Decatur), the commission adopted a resolution declaring the necessity of the rehabilitation project, approving specifications and the engineer's estimate, and directing the city manager to advertise for bids. The resolution was approved under suspension of rules.

Separately, the commission approved consent-agenda items including a liquor license change of ownership for DDT Incorporated and a 2026 rock salt purchase from Morton Salt, Inc. The commission also approved submission of a grant application to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) for the Causeway Wetlands; staff clarified that the city will not proceed with the wetlands work if the ODNR grant is not awarded and that the project intends to amend and use existing dredging cells where capacity remains limited.

All ordinances and resolutions were approved by roll-call vote during the meeting.
