Clerk/staff S2 updated the Village of Golf Manor Community Engagement Committee on Nov. 10 about a proposed mixed-use development concept for North Weade and a recent grant application.
S2 said Hamilton County planning had agreed to offer in-kind services to "build a plan for North Weade" and help finalize a proposal for an approximately 18,000-square-foot building containing an event hall, upstairs offices for hourly rental and vendor stalls for small restaurants—an East Market–style configuration. "They basically have agreed to go as an in kind services to build a plan for North Weade," S2 said.
Golf Manor submitted a $35,000 planning grant application; there were 11 applicants and the county funded the top three. S2 said Golf Manor ranked fourth and that the county had offered to provide assistance or technical services to strong applicants outside the funded top three. The county’s involvement would include plan development and a county 'stamp' that could make it easier to recruit vendors and outside partners.
Committee members discussed management, revenue allocation and whether the space could be used for municipal operations (S2 noted it should not be municipal office space or for the police department). Members asked staff to follow up with more detail and to present results to full council for consideration.
Next procedural steps: staff to report back to council with the county’s proposed scope of services and any recommended governance or revenue arrangements for the project.
