Resident says pickleball badge rules at Ginty Field aren't being enforced; parks staff to follow up
Summary
A local resident told the committee badge checks for Ginty Field pickleball courts are rarely enforced and asked who monitors access; parks and recreation staff said two part-time employees rotate badge checks and promised to follow up with the resident by email and at the advisory committee meeting.

At the Sept. 17 meeting resident Lauren Miller of 23 Fieldstone Drive urged the township to enforce badge rules for Ginty Field pickleball courts, saying she had her badge checked "once in 3 years" despite posted rules that residents display badges and nonresidents pay a fee.
"My badge has been checked once in 3 years," Miller said, describing repeated instances where courts were crowded, parking was full, and she could not confirm whether players present had paid the $175 nonresident fee she cited. She described posted rules for hour-long play sessions and asked who is responsible for checking badges and enforcing turn-taking when others are waiting.
Parks and recreation staff responded that two part-time employees work rotating hours to check badges and that they will follow up with Miller directly by email and provide the Parks & Rec advisory-committee meeting date for additional public input. Miller suggested exploring a locked, swipe-card access system used in neighboring Florham Park as one possible option; staff agreed to raise enforcement and access options at advisory meetings.
The committee did not take legislative action on the issue at the meeting but directed staff to investigate enforcement timing and to report back to the resident and the advisory committee.
