Prior Lake-Savage board reviews academic-excellence implementation and new scorecard

The presentation emphasized cascading goals from the district level down to school improvement plans and PLC-style learning teams and described efforts to align Building Instructional Leadership Teams (BUILT) with teacher learning teams to strengthen instruction.
The district noted curricular implementation is expected to be a multi-year process and said the district is in year three for one major math resource, which is when "we would expect to see those outcomes." Staff shared results showing improvement in some fourth-grade classrooms and described plans to identify and spread exemplars across the system. The Danielson framework will continue to be used to guide observations and coaching; staff said peer coaches and principals are central to efforts to increase instructional fidelity.
On measurement, the district previewed an updated scorecard intended to be posted on the website. Staff cautioned that some state data remain embargoed: science MCA items that shifted categories and ACT comparisons are scheduled to be released in October, and graduation rates will be published the following May. Speaker 1 said the district is cleaning up legacy attendance and behavior codes during a migration to a new system (Aubrey) and that this transition will limit year-to-year comparisons in the short term.
Board members asked for more granular reporting and clarity about what counts as a behavior incident and whether tier designations (tier 1/2/3) could be used to make the data more interpretable. The district committed to delivering more detailed documentation and to walking the board through how behaviors are coded when staff completes the data transition. "Behavior is a very complicated metric," Speaker 1 said, noting differences in adult responses and reporting practices across sites.
The presentation closed with next steps for public posting of scorecard visuals and continued work to align school plans and professional learning. Staff said they will continue informal classroom check-ins and share artifacts of implementation progress with the board as part of ongoing monitoring.
