Council vacates undeveloped portion of 230 Second Street East in Graham

Pierce County Council on Sept. 23 adopted Ordinance O2025-527 vacating a portion of county right-of-way along 230 Second Street East in the Graham community area.
Planning and Public Works staff summarized the petition: the segment is undeveloped and the county engineer determined it is not required for the county roadway network. Planning staff classified the parcel as NE (no credible evidence public funds were spent on acquisition, maintenance or development) and determined no payment of appraised value was necessary; the only charge to the applicant was the $1,500 application fee, which had been paid. Facilities and Planning staff made the recommendation to grant the vacation. A representative for the developer (Garrett Homes) said they were working with the property owner and would be the homebuilder.
Council members had no substantive objections and adopted the ordinance on a 7-0 vote.
What happens next: Planning and Public Works will complete the record and the county will record the vacation per ordinance provisions; the developer will proceed with planned development consistent with local rules.
