Erin Obi, superintendent of Pembroke Public Schools, said the town’s voters will consider Article 6 at the fall town meeting (Oct. 21) to enter a regional agreement with South Shore Tech. "Our part 1 vote is scheduled for October 21, I believe it's Article 6," Obi said. If Pembroke approves the agreement this fall, she said two separate spring votes would still be required: a debt-exclusion override for Pembroke’s share of the new building and an operational override to cover tuition and transportation costs for students sent to the regional school.
Why it matters: South Shore Tech offers week-long vocational majors, cooperative education placements and industry-recognized credentials that, panelists said, make graduates immediately employable and competitive for apprenticeships.
