Resident urges more benches and a passenger-activated light at Waynesboro bus stops

Williamsburg — A Waynesboro resident told the council Nov. 10 that she has seen increased bus ridership and offered practical suggestions to improve access.

Jennifer McDowell said she had recently ridden the bus and “noticed a great increase in the bus the number of passengers on the bus,” and proposed adding benches at stops and installing “a light system to where the bus when it comes around, it doesn't have to try to look everywhere to find if there's a passenger”. She said such a signal would help passengers avoid waiting exposed to bad weather and help drivers spot waiting riders.
