The Rocky Mount City Council approved a revised award of $446,664.96 to Infrastructure Solutions Group for one automated leaf truck and two leaf-and-debris loaders after the originally approved vendor was no longer an authorized dealer.
The council had previously approved a January purchase to Carolina Industrial Equipment for $452,306.38, but the manufacturer’s dealer status changed and staff recommended switching the vendor and reaffirming the award amount. Councilman Joiner moved to ratify the revised award and Councilman Blackwell seconded; the motion passed by voice vote.
City Manager Elton Daniels told council this is not new spending and that financing was approved earlier in January; he said the new equipment "is the equivalent of about five employees" in productivity and will help public-works operations be more efficient. Councilman TJ Walker asked whether the purchase represented new spending; the manager reiterated it used previously approved financing and only the vendor changed.
The consent agenda, approved earlier in the meeting, also included routine actions such as street-closure authorization and grant application execution but did not draw extended discussion.
