Lincoln Park — The City Council voted to award the city's Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) contract to Core & Main following a staff-led procurement and vendor interviews.

City staff reported that bids were opened on Oct. 15, 2025. The values read into the record were: Ferguson (two figures stated in transcript), United System ($5,707,975), Mueller ($6,029,808), EJP ($6,386,694), Core & Main ($6,662,983), and an Aetna bid referenced near $7 million. After interviews and evaluation by the AMI advisory board, staff recommended Core & Main for the meter-change-out work; staff noted the finance department will determine the funding account (SEG 599-623).

City Manager (presenting) said the committee interviewed three vendors and recommended Core & Main based on the board's review of criteria, vendor interviews, and other evaluation factors. Council moved, supported, and voted in favor by roll call.

Why it matters: AMI replaces manual or legacy meters with a networked system that improves meter-read accuracy, enables remote readings, and supports modernized billing and leak detection. Staff told council that financing options for the meters would be brought back to council at a later date.
