Pryor Creek council approves hotel/motel grants totaling $22,750 and adopts 2026 budget committee schedule

The Pryor Creek City Council on Oct. 14 approved multiple hotel/motel grant reimbursements for local events and adopted a 2026 budget committee meeting schedule.
The council approved the following hotel/motel payouts and final expense reports:
- $4,000 to Hot Rods on a Mission for a car show held Sept. 13, 2025. - $10,000 to Mace County Hope for the Dam Jam bicycle tour held Sept. 6, 2025. - $5,000 to the Prior Area Chamber of Commerce for the Bluegrass and Barbecue Festival in October 2025. - $3,500 to the Prior Area Chamber for the Oakey Homestead Expo scheduled March 20–21, 2026. - $250 to organizers of Santa’s Christmas Village scheduled for Dec. 6, 2025.
In total, the grants approved at the meeting amount to $22,750. Council members made the motions, seconded and called the votes; no substantive discussion was recorded for the individual grant approvals.
Separately, the council reviewed and approved the 2026 budget committee meeting schedule (generally third-Tuesday meetings, adjusted where federal holidays apply). The schedule had been reviewed previously and approved by council for regular meetings.
Next steps: reimbursable payouts will be processed per city procedures and the budget committee will meet according to the adopted schedule; no budget amendments were adopted at the Oct. 14 meeting.
